How is apple-shaped body high risk?

For women, a waist measurement of more than 34.6 inches puts you in the at-risk category, according to The Telegraph.
The fat that gathers around your midriff is different and more toxic than the flab that settles on butt or thighs. If your waist measurement makes you an apple shape, then you are three times more likely to die of heart disease than a woman whose waist measurement is below 31.4 inches.
And if you do manage to make it into your seventies, there is new research from Sweden to show that you're twice as likely to develop dementia if your waist is larger than your hips.
The message is clear. Lose the midriff bulge - or you gamble with your life and your mind.
