I feel like I have a layer of fat around my muscles I weight train and do cardio 5-6 days a week and while I am in "good shape" I would like to be more efficient and leaner . is this possible at 59

Optimum heart rate for fat burning
by: Elizabeth, Beat Menopause Weight Gain

I consulted Paige Waehner, exercise expert on About.com to find the answer to your question. According to Paige, "...you may hear that working at the low end of your THR zone will burn more fat. While this is technically true, this isn't the best intensity to work at if you're trying to lose weight. Instead, you want to work at a higher intensity to burn more overall calories." She goes into more detail in this series of articles on Cardio Workouts.
